Top tips for before your Bridal Spray Tan
A trial tan is essential, you would not think twice about a hair and makeup trial, both of which can be washed off. You can not just wash off a tan. It will also give you the chance to try a depth of colour before the day. After you have had a trial you may want to go darker or you may not have skin prepped properly. A trial will give you the chance to make sure you do everything correctly.
You want your skin to be in great shape before your spray tan as it gives a brilliant finish and prolongs the life of your tan.
Drink plenty of water, if your skin is dehydrated it can become dry and flaky.
Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!! It really is SO important. For a Bridal tan, start this 2 weeks before you come and see me for your tan, do this twice a week.
Be very gentle when exfoliating, you don't need to press hard. If you do this, it will irritate your skin.
Get your partner to do your back for you.
Use a mitt rather than scrub as these can leave a residue and will affect your tan. Also do not use a shower sponge as this is not exfoliating for your skin and can result in uneven patching when your tan starts to come off.
Pay extra attention on knees, elbows and heels.
It is also a good idea to think about what necklines you are wearing a few weeks before.
Use a body and facial SPF (oil free) every day in the run up to your wedding day, why?
- Sunburn can affect your spray tan even weeks after it has healed.
- Prevent tan lines forming - a spray tan can help disguise tan lines but it will not hide them completely.
When you arrive for your Appointment,
Make sure you have something loose and dark to wear - NO TIGHT CLOTHING. This will suck up your solution and leave your tan looking uneven. Ideally a button up top/dress to avoid pulling anything over your head.
Footwear need to be flip flops or sandals. No trainers, uggs or slippers.
Check the weather for your appointment, if it is due to rain make sure you are covered up and bring a brolly.
If you have a honeymoon straight after your wedding, think about what swimwear you will take and the underwear you will have your for tan.
After you have developed (washed off your tan, 8 hours after application) the BEST thing you can do to make sure your tan lasts longer, and fades evenly, is to moisturise twice a day with an oil free moisturiser. This will ensure your tan lasts long into your Honeymoon.
